Hi. I’m Simon. (Counsellor - Owner)
After more than a decade working in senior roles within the Community Services sector, Simon Shields founded Fearless Therapies to create a practice that supports children, young people, and adults in a way that feels natural, authentic, and grounded in genuine connection.
Simon is deeply passionate about building lasting, relationship-based support systems that empower individuals and communities—reducing the need for long-term professional intervention by fostering genuine growth and resilience.
As a Level 2 Counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association, Simon works from an integrative approach that includes Person-Centred Therapy, Eye Movement Integration Therapy (EMIT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. He is also a certified practitioner of the Name Narrate Navigate (NNN) program through the University of Newcastle, delivering this trauma-informed and culturally responsive framework to help young people make sense of their stories and navigate change in healthy ways.
Simon is a member of both the Evolve Mental Health Hub and Outdoor Health Australia, reflecting his strong belief in the therapeutic benefits of nature-based practice.
Outside of his counselling work, Simon enjoys spending time with his family at the beach, mountain biking, hiking, and creating music. A creative at heart, he finds inspiration in music, photography, writing, and personal development, all of which feed into his warm, grounded, and authentic approach to therapy.

Hi. I’m Dan. (Therapeutic Mentor)
Dan brings over 5 years of experience supporting people of all ages, from young people in Out of Home Care (OOHC) to adults in the community, always working closely with clinical teams and DCJ. Over this time, he has taken on team leader and key worker roles, ensuring safety and wellbeing are always at the centre of his work.
What stands out about Dan is his ability to build genuine, trusting relationships and his strong understanding of how to support individuals from diverse and often complex backgrounds. He has a particular strength in assisting clients to achieve their goals, while encouraging independence and growth in everyday life.
Dan believes progress happens best through shared experiences. Whether it’s heading out for a bike ride, bushwalking, exploring the community, or learning new things together, he creates opportunities that feel natural, fun, and meaningful — building confidence, social skills, and independence along the way.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys travelling and discovering new places, which reflects his openness to learning and embracing new experiences alongside the people he supports.
At Fearless Therapies, Dan brings a calm, steady presence and a practical, supportive approach. He is committed to walking alongside clients of all ages as they grow, learn, and discover what they’re capable of.
Hi. I’m Sarah. (Therapeutic Mentor)
Sarah is a therapeutic mentor who supports children, young people and adults to build regulation, confidence, and connection through movement-based and relational support. Her work is practical, strengths-based, and grounded in showing up alongside clients in real-world settings.
With a background in Dance and Movement Therapy, Sarah uses movement and body-based approaches to support emotional regulation, self-expression, and engagement, particularly for clients who benefit from doing, moving, and experiencing rather than sitting and talking. Her approach is well suited to NDIS, DCJ, and community-based work.
Sarah has experience supporting people with anxiety, autism, ADHD, depression, neurological conditions, and life stress. She works at a steady pace, meets people where they’re at, and focuses on building trust, safety, and everyday skills that support wellbeing and participation.
At Fearless Therapies, Sarah works in a mentor role to support goals around emotional regulation, social connection, confidence, routine, and community engagement. She values movement, nature, and genuine human connection as tools to help clients feel more settled in themselves and more confident in the world around them.
