Counsellor
We seek empathetic, skilled counsellors who are committed to providing trauma-informed care in flexible, real-world environments.
You will support clients to develop social, emotional, and coping skills through tailored interventions that may include nature-based and experiential methods alongside traditional counselling techniques. Sessions can take place outdoors, in-home, or within the community, tailored to client readiness and preferences. A critical part of your role will be collaborating with clients and their support networks—including carers and families—to actively work on therapeutic goals and help reset and achieve these goals in the home or community environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual counselling and therapeutic support to clients of all ages, including NDIS participants and children and young people in OOHC and DCJ care.
Utilise trauma-informed, person-centred approaches that promote safety, empowerment, and resilience.
Adapt counselling techniques to suit outdoor, in-home, community, or online settings according to client needs.
Collaborate with carers, families, support workers, and other professionals to align therapy with client goals, supporting progress in home and community settings.
Actively engage clients in goal-setting, review, and reflection to promote ownership and achievement of therapeutic outcomes.
Maintain comprehensive, timely case notes and reports in accordance with organisational, NDIS, and legal standards.
Participate in regular supervision, professional development, and team meetings to maintain high-quality service delivery and reflective practice.
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields.
Experience working with trauma, neurodiversity, disability, and complex social-emotional needs.
Understanding of OOHC/DCJ systems, child-safe practices, and ethical counselling frameworks.
Ability and willingness to work in diverse settings, including outdoors and community environments.
Strong knowledge of person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approaches.
Mandatory Checks
Working With Children Check (WWCC) – NSW
National Police Check (issued within past 12 months)
First Aid & CPR Certification
Current driver’s licence and access to a safe, roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
Highly Desirable
Experience with nature-based or adventure therapy
Familiarity with NDIS frameworks and reporting requirements
